Trainee to Trainer

Maligayang Pasko!!
The night before transfers, as we were hurriedly packing all of Sister Gerald's things, I got a call from our mission president. He told me that I would be training a new missionary!
Her name is Sister Parcon. She is 19 and from Antipolo (near Manila).

Her first day!

Its times like these where I think this whole missionary thing is crazy. If you were a smart businessman of a huge company, you wouldn't send out 18-20-year-olds with no experience, little training, and who can't even speak the native language to establish your business in a foreign country.  You would send knowledgeable, experienced, capable people who have extensively studied the language to bring about your important work. You wouldn't leave something so important as your business to a bunch of teenagers. Let alone something as important as, say, the salvation of souls. It's absolutely crazy!! but you know what the really crazy thing is??

It works!

Because God isn't a smart businessman. He's a God.  And He doesn't need some experienced gospel theologian who thinks he knows how to share the gospel to get in the way of His precious work. He just needs some inexperienced souls, who absolutely need to rely on Him because they can't rely on themselves. And thus, they become instruments in the hands of God. This is God's work. I know it. I've seen and felt it. 

You know the story that I shared a month ago of the Nanay that came to church just because we gave her an invitation card? Well, there's a happy ending to the already happy story:

She got baptized! She has been one of the most prepared people we have ever taught and has since shared the gospel with her family and friends who are now also on their way to baptism. She is our miracle!!

I would just like to end with a scripture from Ether 4:12 

12 And whatsoever thing persuadeth men to do good is of me; for good cometh of none save it be of me. I am the same that leadeth men to all good; he that will not believe my words will not believe me—that I am; and he that will not believe me will not believe the Father who sent me. For behold, I am the Father, I am the light, and the life, and the truth of the world.  

This Pasko (Christmas), remember that all good comes from God! All truth, all knowledge, inspiration, light, and love come from God! Because that is who He is!
