Disaster Struck

Magandang umaga po sa inyong lahat!

Kabahay gift exchange. I got a neck pillow! WOO!

This week started off with a Christmas celebration as mga kabahay (those with whom I share an apartment). It lasted about 10 minutes because we hit curfew; it was still awesome because we had so much food from members.

Disaster struck halfway through the week when we accidentally lit an oil fire. right after I yelled, "don't put water on it!" The STL threw a cup of water on it. Which made it explode and sent flames straight to the ceiling. At which point I ran out of the house because there was a gas tank right next to it.
Luckily our house is made of concrete and tile, so it didn't catch on fire.

A picture of the damage.

In the New Testament, Jesus taught that we need to be baptized with fire, which is the Holy Ghost, as well as water. One is not complete without the other.

So of course after the first disaster, naturally there was a flood. At least that's what makes sense biblically.

We got hit with a cyclone and were confined to our house. We didn't have water or electricity for over 24 hours and spent most of the day mopping up water. Funnily enough, our house flooded from the top down, with water filling up the balcony and cascading down the stairs.

Scooping water at 5am
We had to wash our dishes with the rainwater.

We think it was only a Category 1, but we don't actually know because no one has electricity to get the news. It wasn't that bad, but most of our area is flooded with a few feet of water, and a house even fell into the river.
The whole time I was praying so hard for all the people, we have been visiting to be safe.

With the extra time we had, I was able to paint some paintings for our recent converts.

"Knowest thou the meaning of the tree which thy father saw?"
"Yea, it is the love of God, which shedded itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men, wherefore it is the most desirable above all things."
"As I partook of the fruit thereof, it filled my soul with exceedingly great joy, wherefore, I began to be desirous that my family should partake of it also." - 1 nephi 8 & 11

I love you all! Have a happy new year!
