Kobe Bryant Went to Church
Maray na aga po sa indong gabos!
We found a Golden Family this week. One day we talked to this boy and he told us he was a member. We didn't recognize him so we had him take us to his house. There we met his family. It turns out that they are not members, but they used to attend church all the time because their Mom's whole family are members. We talked to the mom and the dad and they told us that they were almost baptized as a family years ago but the elders got pulled out from the area. They were a little hurt at the sudden loss of their guides. They ended up moving away from their extended family, stopped going to church, but still felt something was lacking in their life.
The father hesitantly asked us after our first meeting, "is there any way that I can still be baptized?" After so many years, they still have a desire to follow Jesus Christ and join His Church. We committed him, his wife, and their eight kids to be baptized in August. The best part...their oldest child is named Kobe Bryant (yes, that is really his name--Filipinos love basketball!)
I am so humbled at how many amazing people we are surrounded by every day. I regard each person that we teach as family, and can't describe the pure love that I feel for each of them.
I'm still incredibly thrilled to be a missionary every day. The flame that I felt as I started this journey is in no way dwindling but is growing brighter and brighter ...
"That which is of God is light; and he that receiveth light, and continueth in God, receiveth more light; and that light groweth brighter and brighter until the perfect day." D7C 5:25
