The street children turned me into an idol

This week we traveled to Pamalona to perform the play:
Pamalona is miles and miles of jungle and Sisters are not assigned in this Zone so it was fun being there and mingling with the members some of which had never seen sister missionaries! They also didn't have a stage, so even after making do with what we had and changing all the entrances and exits, etc, it ended up being one of the best performances. :)
One funny thing that happened this week is while we were talking to some people outside of their house, we hear the street children yelling my name. (This is very normal; missionaries are popular and when they see us they start running and yelling). As they approached us, they were actually chanting "Sister Gray" and I turned around and they were holding this blonde doll high above their head that they had put a dress on:
It's me! |

If you asked me what is the most important quality of a missionary is, I would say consecration. If we have consecrated all of our heart might mind and soul to the Lord, if we have laid down our own will, our thoughts and our desires on the altar of sacrifice, we can be made into a new creature. If we have consecrated ourselves to Him, being obedient, loving the people, following the Spirit and working hard all come very easy. This doesn't just apply to missionaries. CS Lewis wrote:
"Give me all. I don't want so much of your time, so much of your work. I want YOU. All of you. I have not come to torment the natural man. but to kill it. no half-measures will do. I don't want to only prune a branch here and another there; rather I want the whole tree out. Hand it all over to me, the whole outfit, all your desires, all of your wants and wishes and dreams. Turn them all over to me, give yourself to me and I will give you Myself. My will shall become your will, my heart shall become your heart. "
As we strive to overcome the natural man by exercising faith, repenting, making covenants and obeying God's commandments, God will make us a new person--in His image. This is a hard journey, but it is also very exciting and it is our very purpose here on earth. I am so grateful for the guides that we have, a living prophet, scriptures, and the Holy Ghost to help us to know what to do here on earth, how to overcome the natural man and become like Jesus Christ.
I love you all!
