Following Promptings
Helo po!
Ever since I got to the Philippines, writing these blog posts has been really hard. There is too much that happens in just 1 day. I don't have the time or the words to accurately describe what I am experiencing so I usually just settle for "I love my mission! I'm so happy! Blah!"
I am going to just start sharing shorter, more detailed experiences. I was debating between sharing 2 different things that happened this week, but I'll just leave you all with the first one that comes to mind when I start typing:
As I was falling asleep one night, a name came to mind. Let's call him Brother Nikko. He was a referral we have only been able to visit once, and he was so receptive and sincerely grateful that we gave him a Book of Mormon. However, we hadn't been back to visit for over a week because of how many people we are teaching. The next morning as we were planning, I knew we needed to visit someone, but I couldn't remember their name. After we had finished our planning, Brother Nikko's name came to my mind again, so I quickly wrote him in as a double backup. Later that night as we passed the small street where he lived, I blurted out "We need to visit Brother Nikko!" So we headed to his house immediately.
It turns out that he and his family were being kicked out of their house for not paying rent; they had no money, and they were in the midst of packing up all their belongings to leave everything and move across the province to Camarines Sur. They were to leave the next day, and they were very unsure about their future. We were able to share a message that gave their family comfort, assured them that God had a plan for his family and that He loved them. I know God is aware of His children. He uses his servants to reach out to His children and remind them of His love. God doesn't send angels to earth to do what one of His saints can do.
I challenge all of you to pray to know who you need to reach out to in love with sincerity of intent and determine that you will act on the name you receive. We can all be instruments in the hands of God, and I promise the fulfillment that comes from following promptings of the spirit is so very worth it.
Here is a picture of me with Lagundi, a plant to cure my awful 3-week cough. It was given to me by Sister Apple Yes, that is her name and her sister's name is Dimple. How cool is that??!
I love you all so much!
